Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Haverly was born on October 28, 1933 to parents Charles Edward and Laura Margaret (Sumner) Streaman and entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2018 at the age of 85. Dorothy, who was lovingly known as “Dot” by her family and friends, graduated from Naugatuck High School in CT. in 1953. Marrying the love of her life, Donald Haverly, on December 4, 1954 in Derby, CT. Dot then spent 16 months in Germany while Donnie was in the Army. Their first son was born in Munich, Germany. When they came back to the states, they bought their first house in New Milford, CT. Dot and Donnie had three more children, which kept her busy. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Dot was a very kind hearted lady, who was unique, compassionate, independent and always determined. They moved the family to New Preston, CT where she worked in the school lunch room and then drove a bus, till she retired. In October of 1999 they moved to Eustace, TX and joined St. Peter Lutheran Church. Dot was very family oriented and loved her family beyond measure. She worked as a seamstress and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafting. Dot loved animals and usually became a foster home for dogs and miniature horses. She was even known to adopt a few humans. Dot was Lutheran by faith but attended Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother and sister, who will be missed tremendously by those who knew and loved her.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Haverly, daughter-in-law Darcy Oppegard Haverly.
She is survived by her loving children; Kenneth W. Haverly and wife Sue of New Preston, CT, Robert S. Haverly and Meredith Williams of Gun Barrel City, John C. Haverly and wife Peggy of Eustace and Deborah J. Jock and husband Michael of Eustace, grandchildren; Jeffrey, Daniel, Orry, Ashley, Sarah, Jessica, Chuck, John Paul, Dawn Marie, Rob and Jamie, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister Shirley Baker of Bourne, MA, sister Carol Streaman of Southbury, CT, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
