Edna Jean Webb, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born January 29, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, and entered into eternal rest at home in Mabank on August 26th, 2025. She was 77 years old.
Jean embodied the heart and soul of true southern hospitality. She was known for her warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her work in life was being a dedicated housewife, she poured her heart into making a loving home filled with care, comfort, and the smell of her famous homestyle cooking. Her dishes and sweet treats became the centerpieces of countless family gatherings. More than anything else, Jean found joy in caring for others, always putting the needs of family and friends before her own.
In her younger years, Jean lived in Dallas, where she and her family enjoyed summers filled with camping trips and outdoor adventures. In the 1980s, she and Johnny moved to Cedar Creek Lake to embrace a slower pace of life. Together, they built the family home that became so much more than just a house. It was a gathering place full of love, laughter, and memories. There, Jean became affectionately known as “Meme” by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Weekends were often spent by the pool, surrounded by joy and laughter, or out on the boat fishing—one of Jean’s favorite pastimes. She also found peace in working in the yard, tending to her plants, and creating a home surrounded by beauty and comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and O.C. Smith; her siblings Tommie Burnett and Billy Burnett; her daughter Edna Rena Webb. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Johnny Webb; her daughter Tina Crawford and husband Cody of Malakoff; granddaughter Deann Holland and husband Dusty of Athens; grandchildren Travis Perez, Sierra Perez, Chase Crawford, Brianna Crawford, Brylee Crawford; and great-grandchildren Garrett, Damon, Levi, Brooklyn, and Chloe. She also leaves behind her siblings Marie Rogers, Ronald Smith, and Larry Smith, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Jean’s greatest passion in life was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the one who made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her legacy of faith, love, and hospitality will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
