Elvie Marie Custard passed away January 10, 2024 in Eustace. She was born May 13, 1941 in Dallas. She was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Eustace. Marie was a devoted wife who enjoyed being a professional truck driver with her beloved husband. Marie loved her family and friends very much. Everyone was welcome at her home. She never let you leave her house on an empty stomach. She always asked God to make the fishes go plenty, but most of the time it was chicken or Frito Salad. You were going to eat something when you visited with her. She enjoyed singing and dancing. Those who adored her called her Memaw. She was a one of kind memaw, who gave the best hugs and always said I love you.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis L. Custard, and her parents: Elvie and Kenneth Borden and John Dixon.
Marie is survived by her son, Johnny Wayne "J.W." Tarno Sr.; daughter, Dennise Marie Bridges and partner Robert Erskine; son, William Richard and Sherri Custard; daughter, Johnetta and Michael McCown; nine grandchildren: J.J. Tarno, Crystal Crook, Clifford Tarno, R.J. Erskine, Ricky Custard, Dennis Custard, Casey Bridwell, Chris Bridwell and LeAnn Hamilton, Jennifer and Andrew Hunnicutt; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; as well as great-great grandchildren and brother, Ted Tate.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Crook, P.J. Crook, Ty Crook, R.J. Erskine, Clifford Tarno, and Ricky Custard. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Posemato and Seth Ship.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
