

Born on July 11, 1939, in Irving, Texas, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Aubrey L. Thorn and the late Martha Chaney Thorn. She attended High School in Irving and later went to Business School.
Evelyn married the love of her life, Dan Wilson, on August 7, 1955, in Durant, Oklahoma and were married 60 years at the time of his passing. Together they had three children, Danny Lee, Rusty Ray, and Lee Roy Wilson.
Evelyn and Dan were charter members of Faith Community Baptist Church in Payne Springs, where they were both very active and especially dedicated to supporting the children in their church community. Evelyn and her family worked diligently to ensure children could attend church camp each year by operating a fireworks stand to raise the necessary funds. Evelyn and her dear friend Marie Wallace also prepared Wednesday night meals for the youth group and church family.
Evelyn retired from Malakoff ISD after 25 years of service in the cafeteria. She was loved by the students at MISD who affectionately called her “Grandma”.
Evelyn’s most cherished times were spent with her grandchildren, playing all kinds of card games. Her and Dan enjoyed taking them on yearly summer vacations to many places throughout Texas and across the country. Evelyn enjoyed working puzzles, playing games, cooking and shopping. Evelyn was known for her kindness, compassion, and warmth, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Evelyn is survived by three sons Danny Lee Wilson and his fiancé, Vicki Brantley, Rusty Ray Wilson and his wife, Jean, and Lee Roy Wilson and his wife, Terri, all of Mabank, Texas; Evelyn leaves 12 grandchildren: Valerie Wilson, Stephanie (Justin) Holiman, Heather Wilson, Trey (Ashely) Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Trent (Jessica) Wilson, James (Alicia) Mead, John (Sarah) Whisenhunt, Michelle (Chris) Roon, Rebecca (Jarod) McNairn, Zachariah (Kathrine) Wilson, and Sarah Wilson (George Benjamin); along with 15 great-grandchildren; and her dearest friend Marie Wallace.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Martha Holland; and brothers Jerry Thorn, Jackie Thorn, and Jimmy Thorn.
