Franklin Louis Parker
March 5, 1928 – February 8, 2020
Frank Louis Parker was born March 5, 1928 in a small East Texas Community called Latch, named for his great uncle Louis Latch, a decorated civil war vet. He was born to William Austin Parker and J.D.(Mathis) Parker the second of 4 children, and the only son. He grew up in tough times, and learned the value of hard work at an early age. His daddy traveled all over Texas as a carpenter to provide for his family, and the man tasks were left up to him. He made his first crop at 10 years old. He picked cotton, and anything else he could do to help his family. He could buy 5. 22 bullets for a nickel, and knew that he needed to bring home 5 squirrels. He entered the Navy in 1946 and served his country proudly aboard the U.S.S Jason as a machinist until he was honorably discharged in late 1948. He began his working career in the aircraft industry, building F8 Crusaders for Chance Vought , later LTV. He worked two jobs for many years to provide for his family, and closed his working career at the Mabank High School , where he served as the bus mechanic and transportation director until his retirement in 1993 after 15 years of faithful service . He met the love of his life, Doris Jean, in 1952, and they were married December 13, 1952. They were married for 67 years until Doris’ passing November 8, 2019. They had 3 children, Gary Louis, William Thomas ( Bill) and Robin Michelle. We were provided a wonderful upbringing by our parents , but taught the value of hard work at an early age. Frank loved to hunt and fish and was a master at both. He passed his love of the outdoors down to his kids, and grandkids. He was a wonderful Daddy to his children, and a wonderful Pop to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a “mans man”, loved and respected by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Bill Parker , and his beloved wife , Doris Jean. He is Survived by his son, Gary Louis Parker and Wife Sandra , Sister Joy Dale Irby, Daughter, Robin Hoelting, Grandson Bill Parker JR. and wife Libby, granddaughter Tiffany Hall and Husband Steve, grandsons Tyson Louis Parker and wife Taylor, great grandsons David Austin Parker, and Jacob and Cooper Hall, and great grand daughters Peyton Parker, and Harlow and Laityn Parker and one great grand child on the way. He Lived a long, full life, but has left a hole in our hearts.
