Patricia Gayle McKee was born to parents Lee Ed and Otta Mae Barnett on October 10, 1941. She entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2021, at the age of 79. Gayle was a strong woman with a servant’s heart. She was always caring for others and taking care of anyone in need. Gayle worked hard her entire life, she started out with some retail and when she finished her nursing degree she went on to pursue a career after her own heart. She worked as a school nurse for Lake Point Hospital in Rockwall, Corsicana Nursing Home and Rutherford Elementary. Gayle also spent time as the nurse at the Hutchins Prison and then also spent time working in home health and providing care for those who were homebound due to their health or circumstance. She was selfless and giving and spent her life serving others. In her free time, she was also a member of the Mabank Church of Christ and enjoyed being a part of the ladies Bible study class, enjoyed thrifting, garage sales and time spent with her animals. Gayle’s greatest love was her beautiful family, she was a devoted, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She made sure that her family always knew they were her first love and her commitment to them was unmatched. Everyone she met became a friend that she treated like family.
Gayle was preceded in death by parents, Lee Ed and Otta Mae Barnett and nephew, Scott George. She is survived by her loving husband, James McKee; son, Greg Coffee and wife Cristy; daughters, Kristi Cookston and husband Matt, Shelly Mohedano and husband Rob; grandchildren, Lane and Savannah Mohedano, Sara and Laura Coffey, Brant Cookston; siblings, Edie George and husband Gary, Paula Brunson and husband Melvin, Terry Schimpf and husband Tom, David Barnett and wife Phyllis, Doug Barnett and wife Mary, Janet Morris and husband Pat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loved ones and lifelong friends.
