

Gilbert Fountain Ellis Sr. and Jewel Elizabeth (Trull) Ellis and entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2018 at
the age of 72. Gil worked for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years and retired as a Captain. He
enjoyed his position so much that he felt as if he had the ideal job, because he loved what he did. He
was a straight forward kind of man with strong integrity. Gil was very kind hearted and had a dry sense
of humor. He was a very good teacher, had patience, but he was also strong willed. Gil loved fishing,
traveling and listening to music. He was an amazing husband, brother, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gil was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey Ellis, brother John Ellis and brother Timothy Ellis.
He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda Ellis of Mabank, son Ron Ellis and wife Missy, granddaughter
Lacy and her husband Chase and their children Landon, Lane and Ledger of Forney, grandsons Trenton
and Jonathan Ellis of Mesquite, daughter Rachel Pierce and her husband Jackie and their
daughters Lauren and Sidney of Valley Mills, granddaughter Brandi Prestwood and husband Mike
and their children Ruby, Brayden and Carson of Wills Point, granddaughter Ashley Morgan and husband
Jeff and their children Tennyson and Tristan of Wills Point, granddaughter Stacey Davidson and husband
Brandon and their children Charlee and Lincoln of Fate, grandson Justin Ray of Austin, grandson
Korey Ray and wife Jessica and their children Autumn and Myles of Alabama, Josh Ellis and wife
Amber of Decatur, brother Carey Ellis of Trinidad, and sister Gloria Jean Spence of Dallas
and many nieces, nephews, other family members and so many friends.
