Grace was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on December 14, 1926, in Curtis, Oklahoma, to Louie and Hazel Dezort, Grace spent her early years in Mooreland, Oklahoma, before making Dallas her home. It was there that she raised her three daughters, Michelle Dee, Beverly Dawn, and Kim Renee Harrison.
Grace worked at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital for more than 30 years, dedicating much of her life to caring for others. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple things in life. She loved reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. She also had a true green thumb and took great pride in growing beautiful roses.
Grace was a loving, wonderful, and witty woman with a personality that could light up a room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit, and she knew how to make the people around her smile. She loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her family will remember Grace not only for the love she gave so freely, but also for the little things that made her uniquely Grace — her humor, her stories, her love of a good puzzle, her beautiful roses, and the special way she made each person feel loved and remembered.
Grace is survived by her brother, Norman “Stub” Dezort.
She is also survived by her daughters, Michelle Henry and husband, Thomas Henry, of Emory, Texas, Beverly Platts and husband, Doug Platts, of Mabank, Texas, and Kim Johnson of Mabank, Texas; her grandchildren include Thomas Michael Morgan Jr., Alison Andrews, Lisa Perez, Kelly Seery, Magan Jackson, and Jill Hodges; her great-grandchildren include Thomas Michael Morgan III (Mikey), Jake Morgan, Alexandra Andrews, Ava Andrews, Camille Andrews, Harrison Andrews, Lily Perez, Lucas Perez, Maren Seery, Carter Seery, Vivienne Jackson, Maddie Hodges, Cooper Hodges, Lane Hodges, Bear Hodges; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Hazel Dezort; her brothers, Arthur Dezort and Ralph Dezort; and her sisters, Etta Dezort and Virgie Voth.
The memorial will be officiated by her nephew, Pastor Patrick Dezort.
Grace leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love that will continue through her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout her 99 years. Although she is no longer with us, the memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
She was deeply loved, she will be deeply missed, and she will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
