

Herman was born on July 14, 1931 in Dallas, TX to parents Benjamin Howell Sides and Joella McAlister and entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2015 at the age of 84. Herman was known as “Grandpa” and “PaPa” to the grandchildren that he loved dearly. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School and joined our military. He served in The United States Air Force as an A/1C. Herman worked in the air conditioning business and was self employed. He was a very jovial person; always laughing and joking around. Herman was a hard worker; he was a “Do it yourself” kind of guy. In his down time, he would spend a lot of time remodeling the house, working in the yard and on tinkering on vehicles. He was also an awesome babysitter; he loved watching his grandchildren. Herman had a close relationship with his baby brother. He was a very loving and caring man who will be tremendously missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Daniel Sides, great-grandson Aaron Lattin, sister Annice Silverthorne and nephew Ricky Sides.
He is survived by his loving wife Ella Sides of Kemp, son Lynn Sides and wife Emily of Idaho, son Joe Sides and wife Leigh of Flower Mound, daughter Susan Dillon and husband Eddie of Kemp, daughter Karen Holmes and husband Eric of Mabank, brother Earl Sides and wife Linda of Streetman, grandsons; Jason, Andy, Ben and Danny, granddaughters; Kimberly, Melissa, Erin, Laura, Cari and Maddie, great-grandsons; Grant, Austin, Colton, Connor, Dustan, Wyatt, Trystan, Nathan, Caleb and Joel, great-granddaughters; Elain, Lexi and Taryn, nephews; Ken, Stuart and Chris, niece Marylin, other loving family members and many more friends.
