Homer Neil Thomas, 82, of Mabank, Texas was born on September 29, 1933 to Virgil and Willie Eleanor Jones Thomas in Aley, Texas and left this life on March 14, 2016 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Homer was a Christian and a member of the Mabank church of Christ. Living in the same location for over 70 years Homer was a lifelong farmer and business owner. Homer farmed cotton, ran his own milk hauling business, dairy farmed with his dad and later with his son and was also a bus driver for Mabank ISD for 20 years. His favorite job however was being a grandPA. Pa loved taking his grandsons riding on the Kubota, sharing his Dr. Peppers with them, singing with them, and in his words “worting them”. Homer was a loving husband, daddy, father-in-law, Pa, uncle, and friend to those who knew him. He will be missed tremendously but we know through our faith in Jesus Christ that this isn’t a “Good bye” but a “See ya later”.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Thomas, and step son Kenneth Wayne Bartley. He is survived by his son Charles Neil Thomas and wife Kelley and their sons Caden Neil and Lucas Charles, all of Mabank, Texas. He is also survived by brothers Louis Thomas and wife Nellie and Norman Thomas and wife June all of Mabank, Texas; sisters-in-law Betty Jo Payne of Wills Point, Texas, Mildred Deemie of Maryland, Charline Johnson of Tool, Texas, Barbara Tharp and husband Evan of Gun Barrel City, Texas and brother-in-law Charles Wood of Katy, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
