Born on November 14, 1930, in Tool, Texas, Iris was a daughter of the late Benjamin Herbert Snowden and the late Joyce Ruth Breland Snowden. She was the fourth of six children. Iris was the last of the surviving siblings.
Iris was raised in the Mabank area within a farming family. She was very much a tomboy and loved the outdoors. Iris and her sister JoAnn were inseparable in their childhood, and both played girls’ basketball at Mabank High School. You didn’t want to mess with them. Iris grew up and moved to the Dallas, Texas area. She loved and rescued countless animals over the years. She was a Switchboard Operator for Commercial Union Insurance Company for many years before retiring. Bobby and Iris started and operated their own successful Construction Company named B D Construction for many years before retirement. Iris and Bobby were current members of Calvary Baptist Church in Fate, Texas.
Iris is survived by husband, Bobby Dixon; her daughter Joan Davison; son Neil Price and wife, Pam. Iris doted on her three grandchildren, Stephen Hernandez and wife, Randie, Amy Cook and husband, Jason, and Matthew Price. Iris was extremely overjoyed with the arrival of her 4 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Sammy Hernandez, and Cade and Kinley Cook. Any opportunity to brag about them was taken. Lem Price, the father of Iris’ children preceded her in death in 2008. They remained avid friends throughout life.
A Celebration of Iris’ Life will be held at a later date.
