Mr. Jim Laster was born on March 24, 1942, to parents; Burney and Thelma Laster. He entered into rest on September 20, 2020 at the age of 78. Jim served in the Army after graduating high school and was proud to serve his country. He married the love of his life; Gloria on November 19, 1996 and they began their journey together. Jim was a dedicated father, step-father and husband. He was unflinchingly loyal, very kind and extremely giving, he hated to argue about anything. Jim always had his door open to anyone in need, he was caring and compassionate and had a huge heart. He always willingly allowed Gloria to bring home any stray she found and was always spending money for their care and food. Jim was very witty and extremely funny, he loved old fashioned jokes and making people laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Jim enjoyed bingo, casinos and fishing in his spare time and he really enjoyed working. He was a very driven man, dedicated, hard-working and self-motivated. Jim was never late, always put his best effort in. He owned his own concession business and also a very successful candle business after he retired. Jim was also extremely proud to be an American, his love for his country was unmatched and the most patriotic person his family knew.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Burney and Thelma, his grandsons; Dalton, Nathan, Nicholas, Mason and great-grandson Jayden. He is survived by his wife; Gloria Laster, brothers; Ben and Larry Laster, sister; Sue Webb, sons; Steven Laster and wife Cindi, Richard Laster, Philip Presley and wife Gladys, Joe Herrin and wife Kim, daughters; Karla McKee, Beth Lee and husband Jason, Gwen Dickens and husband Toby, grand-children; Rachelle, Tamara, Jake, Taylor, Drew, Brooke, Cody, Grace, John, Brittany, Spencer and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind other loving family and lifelong friends.
