
Mr. Jimmy Doyle Mansfield was born on December 6, 1926 in Amarillo, TX to parents Arthur Ray Mansfield and Thelma Gallegly and entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2015 at the age of 88. Jimmy loved to sing and even made an album. He had been married to the love of his life, Iona, for 67 years. He was a faithful husband, loving father and a doting grandfather. Jimmy loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed carpentry work and fixing things. Jimmy served in the military; United States Navy and worked in law enforcement until he retired in 1987 from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of Legendary Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City and he loved to talk about the Lord. Jimmy was a very loving and caring man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janis Lockhart, brothers; Charles “Buzzy” Mansfield and B.F. Mansfield, brother-in-laws; Walter Smith and W.H. Hammons.
He is survived by his wife Iona Mansfield, son Jim Dan Mansfield and wife Beverly, son Det. Monte Van Mansfield and wife Belinda, daughter Kristi DeVonne Shipley and husband Jerry Don, grandsons; Arthur Leo (Steven), E.J. and Mathew, granddaughters; Kassi, Sheri, Melissa, Dana, Maranda and Brittany, great-grandsons; Caston, Josiah, Kade and Jonah, great-granddaughters; Erin, Tori, Autumn and Alexandria, other loving family members and many more friends.
