John Patrick Luby, age 74, of Eustace, Texas passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. John was born March 14, 1947, to parents, Jean Leslie Miller and John Joseph Luby. He married the love of his life, Sue Luby, February 15, 1968. John was adventurous and mechanically inclined; he could skillfully build things from using old parts and junk found lying around. This United States Navy Veteran enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. John served as a member of the Duncanville Fire Department, later retired on September 11, 2001. He was a member of the Gun Barrel City Fire Department for over a decade; using his passion and knowledge to mentor many Firemen in the Lake Area.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Jean Leslie Miller and John Joseph Luby; along with his brother, Charlie Wall.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Luby of Eustace,TX.; loyal 7 year old Morkie, Bella Jean; son Joseph Carroll Luby and wife Tonya of Eustace, TX.; grandchildren, Sarah Herbert and husband Joe of Clarksville, TN., Krista Thornton, husband Trevor and one great grandson on the way, Odin Christopher Thornton of Watertown, NY.; siblings, Jan Wall of Waxahachie, TX., Jeralynne Blanco of Pine Bluff, CA., Steven Luby of Plano, TX., Rebecca Guthrie and husband J.B. Hall of Port Orchard, WA., and Cindy Luby; as well as many nieces, nephews and brothers of the Fire Department.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00pm at the CR Legacy Event Hall; located at 2205 W. Main St. Gun Barrel City, TX. 75156.
