Born at his family home on November 19, 1943, in Mabank, Texas, Johnny was the middle son of the late J. P. Davis, Jr. and Mary Lucille Roberson Davis.
Johnny was simply a private, quiet but humble man. Always hard working, being the son of a farmer/sharecropper, beginning as a young child, along with his two brothers, they often had to help out in the fields picking cotton. Johnny, being very competitive in all that he did in life, would often tell the story of how he competed with all the others on who could pick the most cotton quicker. And was always most proud of how he always won.
Johnny received his first paying job at age 17 delivering goods on his bicycle, riding from his home in pleasant grove all through the downtown Dallas area. An early sign of the work ethic and determination that would later define his life. He would often tell a story about a time he once delivered a package to the home of the great Charlie Pride.
Johnny later became a master HVAC Installer where he then dedicated decades of his life and career to Tempo Mechanical and T D Industries working in both residential and commercial settings. Along the way working for other A/C and Plumbing companies as the years went by, until his well-earned retirement at age 62.
Johnny always believed and instilled into his children that perseverance and hard work is what makes the man a man. Always saying you have to work for what you want in this life, nothing comes free. If you worked for it, you earned it so be proud of those things as well as yourself. Always love and respect yourself and never disrespect your elders.
Johnny is survived by his daughter Carrol Ann Nelson of Mabank, Texas; his son Jimmy Don Davis of Azle, Texas; his step-daughter Billie Jean Wagner of Uncertain, Texas; his step-daughter Linda Dean Whiteley of Jefferson, Texas; his step-son Gregory Whiteley of Jefferson, Texas; his granddaughter Latasha Baker of Scurry, Texas; his granddaughter Holly McNary of Azle, Texas; his grandson James Nelson, Jr. of Mabank, Texas; 6 great grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; many step grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; along with many other family members and friends all over of whom he will be truly missed.
