Kelly moved after his first-grade year to Clovis, NM and then eventually to Levelland, TX. He was a Boy Scout and played baseball and football growing up. A heel injury eventually kept him out of sports. He took to the trades in high school and worked with a local home builder to build and remodel houses and even remodeled the kitchen in his mom and dad’s house. After high school, he worked in construction and with his father in the oilfield before moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and started his career with Trinity River Authority.
Kelly started working for Trinity River Authority on April 9, 1996. He started as an Engineering Aide and moved to Field Inspector and then was promoted through the ranks to Inspector Supervisor. Kelly was a tough inspector, by the books. He was very respected by contractors and venders alike. When they knew Kelly was going to be the Supervisor of the project they would often add “Kelly Money” because they knew they were not going to get any money in change orders and it would be by the BOOK, with no exceptions. Kelly loved his TRA family and had been with this amazing company for over 27 years.
For as long as anyone can remember Kelly had a love for motorcycles, camping, fishing, and hunting. He had always been a caretaker, a constant in everyone’s life and making sure that those around him were happy and had everything they needed. Kelly also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Valerie, working on the ranch with cattle and playing with his two chihuahuas, Pistol Annie & Mini Pearl. Kelly had a passion for helping his tiny town and was seated on the City Council of Seven Points for the past 2 years. He loved being an advocate for the fellow citizens.
On June 21, 2013, Kelly's life was changed instantly when he met Valerie. Finally, a lady who loved everything as he did. From motorcycles, hot rod cars, guns, whiskey, and even moonshine, she could dish it out, take it and run with it. HECK they even worked on cars together. He never believed that he would find a girl to have a girl by his side wrenching on cars. A year later they were married at the Hot Rod Ranch on June 21, 2014.
Kelly and Valerie were truly a match made in heaven. Their mutual love of things made them travel across the country and do all types of “bucket list” adventures. If something exciting came up, it would be added to their list. Recent trips included but are not limited to Sturgis, Memphis, Nashville, The Kentucky Derby, Florida, Barrett Jackson, and every local gun show in the DFW Area. Kelly was often the life of the party with his charismatic and fun demeanor. Most who met him will remember him as the man who never met a stranger. He was a King among men in Valerie’s eyes and an avid Texas Ranger Fan. He also loved being part of the DOBER Motorcycle Family.
Kelly is survived by his beloved wife of almost ten years, Valerie Bahm-Logsdon, his mother Jean Logsdon, sister Lisa Logsdon, brother Terry Logsdon, and brother-in-law Tony Lynn Thomas.
Kelly was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Wayne Logsdon, his paternal grandparents E.L. (Slim) Logsdon & Lillie L.
