Kyla and I served together in the 212 degrees Life Bible Study. There's no question how much she invested in and cared about the class and the people in it. I'm sad that "Keela 360" is no longer available for us to watch, with all the crazy episodes that "show" featured. As a bonus, I still managed to catch her from falling as she stumbled down a hiking path! And don't get me started on all the rafting anxiety and adventures... Kyla, we will miss you.

I was so blessed to have had Kyla as a friend and work partner.  She was a perfectionist. Kyla spent hours reviewing our reports making sure every comma, punctuation and numerous other grammatical errors were followed. Kyla loved her Starbucks even if it was cold. She will always have a special place in my heart a d I know she is walking the streets of Heaven and talking nonstop.

Kyla Weatherford was an amazing woman of God. Her love for life and curiosity knew no bounds. I would stand in awe of her boldness and the way she loved others. We were college roommates at ETBU & she was one of my bridesmaids. She was one of the first to visit me after having my son, Justin. The world was a better place because of Kyla. I know I am a better person having known her. Her sincerity and humor was life giving. Miss you dear friend. I know you have been welcomed by our Lord with a, “well done good and faithful servant.” 

There is a way that regular people can tell a story and there is a way that Kyla could tell a story. She made it funnier, more interesting, and much more memorable. She also could slice through any false pretense and get to the core of the matter. She'd let you know the truth about everything from a fashion choice to a situation if you'd ask her. 
As noted, she loved to travel, and some of those trips I got to experience with her - including to South Dakota, Montana, Galveston twice, Waco and the Hill Country. There are too many memories to share, but one of my favorite is our two-day car trip to South Dakota. After that much time in the car driving across the plains Kansas and the hills of Nebraska, we had bared our souls and were delirious with laughter. I subjected her to an audiobook about "Send him a signal" since I clearly needed help in the flirting and connecting with men department. She added her own commentary and even though the book was cheesy, I kept it on because her zingers were pure gold and kept me giggling. 
Kyla could be silly, but she also deeply cared about people. She often talked about her desire to serve in a more full-time way in the mission field. One of her favorite accomplishments was teaching caregivers of special needs kids in China how to better relate with and care for the kids. 
I can't believe she's gone, but I know she's still with us, just in heaven. I am certain she is picking out beautiful tiles and finishings for her mansion in heaven. She is a great designer/decorator. 
Kyla, I love you. I'll see you on the other side friend. Thank you for your friendship.

Heaven received a beautiful angel & she is now with Jesus.  She will be missed here, but we must rejoice knowing she’s with our Heavenly Father. May God bless her family at this tender time & please know that we are here for you always. We love & adore you! Cherish each day with your children as they are surely God’s greatest gift.  Rest easy beautiful angel.

God placed Kyla into my life while doing summer missions in 2004. I’m not sure Orlando was ever the same after the summer we spent there.  From that summer, a group of 4  of us were bonded forever. 

In the last 17 years, Kyla, McKinsey, Nichole and I have gotten together at least a dozen times. Our travels took us back to Orlando a few times, Kentucky, Gulf Shores, Mexico, Savannah, Charleston, Cincinnati, Chicago, Michigan, and Indiana.  Every destination was filled with memories, laughter, and excitement. 

She would never let me live down the time we went snorkeling and I “left her” to be eaten by sharks!  I always teased her of the night she went after the scary man with her shoe in hand ready to beat the living daylights out of him. Most recently, we braved the Sears Tower together and feared for our lives around the 80th floor when the elevator began SHAKING! 

I will forever cherish every memory made with Kyla. Her laughter was contagious, her fun loving spirit was inspiring, and her love for and commitment to The Lord was one for which to strive. 

There will not be a single day that goes by that she won’t enter my mind. I won’t be able to pass a Starbucks without thinking of her. A part of my heart went with her to Heaven and I look forward to the day that we will be reunited again in His glory! 

I only have the privilege to know Kyla for 3 years.  She was such a caring and unique individual.  I loved her stories, her passion, and her sense of humor.  We had each other's backs and helped each other as much as possible, even if it was just a person to vent to and empathize with.  The words do not exist to explain how much she meant to me, and how much of a hole I now have in my life.  I will always love and remember Kyla, and I know that will make me a stronger person.
