Lilia Sonia Rios

Born on August 13, 1948, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, Sonia was a daughter of the late Pablo Alvarez Lopez and the late Lilia Garza de Alvarez.

Sonia was a homemaker and took pride of her home. She was strong in her faith and made sure that all her children completed their sacraments. She found joy in the simplest things such as browsing the local dollar stores, crocheting in her downtime, and watching her favorite novelas. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved them without limits. Laughter came easily to her, and it was unforgettable one that could fill a room and stay with you long after. She had the most beautiful smile and biggest heart, and never met a stranger. Her love, warmth, and spirit will live on in all of us.

Sonia is preceded in death by her husband Juan Luna Rios; and her beloved siblings Arturo Alvarez, Juan Pablo Alvarez, her beloved sister Sandra Silva; and her daughter-in-law Evonne Rios.

Sonia is survived by her children Victor Rios and his wife, Annette, Lilia Durham and her husband, George, Juan Roberto Rios and his wife, Nora, Lorena Chavarria and her husband, Lorenzo, and Ricardo Rios; her cherished Grandchildren Amanda Riley and her husband, Matthew, Joshua Rios, Jana Rios and her, fiancé Chris Ondich, George Durham, Justin Rios and his wife, Rachal, Steven Rios and his wife, Jasmin, Erika Chavarria and her fiancé, Jonathan Sanchez, Christina Durham, Zayda Hukill and her husband, Calbert, Jessica Rios, and Robert Rios; her beloved great-grandchildren Jackson Norton, Michael Norton, Hudson Hosey, Ayden Rios, Easton Rios, Evan Hukill, Brooklyn Norton, Mariana Hukill, Sophia Rios, Bryar Rios, and Sergio Rios; her sisters Maria Anguiano and Edna Gonzalez; and brother Edy Alvarez; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and conduct a rosary vigil on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Interment will follow the mass at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
