Lillie “Lil” Thompson, age 87, of Seven Points, Texas passed away on Monday, July 8th 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Lillie was born on June 6th 1937 to parents Rudolph Valek and Emily Zabojnik of Ennis, Texas. She married the love her life, Bobby Thompson on June 30th 1962. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother as well as a great grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed evenings spent with her boys, family and friends alike, looking out at the lake from her backyard. She relished in being the authority and teacher of all things plants, flowers, and gardening. Lillie was so proud to be “mamma” and “aunt lil” and “GG” to countless people and multiple generations of family and friends. She would take in and feed and love on anyone and everyone who came around her home or her family, no matter their flaws, past, or where they came from. She spent many Sundays “frying 3-4 chickens” or making a meal to feed the neighborhood; she not only fed them food but she also fed their souls with love and kindness. Lillie absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and played a huge part in raising them all. She was a devout and pious catholic by faith with a profound and trusting relationship with God.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Emily Valek. Her loving husband of 62 years Bobby Thompson and her son, Larry Thompson. Daughter in law, D’Lana Thompson. Her sisters, Hedy McCoy and Irene Tolleson. Her brothers Rudy Valek, Henry Valek, and Louis Valek. Her sister in laws, Betty Calvert, Peggy Head, Emily Valek, and Marjorie Valek. Her brother in laws, Billy Joe Calvert, Leonard McCoy, and her beloved brother in law, Wayne Tolleson and beloved brother in law, Kenneth Vavra.
She is survived by her three sons, Bryant Thompson, Michael “Todd” Thompson, and Craig Thompson. Her grandson, Bradley Thompson and her granddaughter, Chelsea Cleveland and husband Kyle Cleveland. Her great grandchildren, Alexis Hall, Cayden Merchant, and Bryson Cleveland. Her brother, Joseph Valek and sister, Theresa Vavra as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation service for Lillie will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Mabank, Texas. A celebration of life funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
