Maria Smith

Maria Smith of Farmersville, Texas left her earthly home on May 8, 2022 at the age of 79. Maria was born July 5, 1942 in Lone Oak Texas to Victoriano & Edwarda Martinez. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and sister. Maria retired from Lucent Technology after many years of employment. She loved to do yard work and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending sports events and family gatherings. She found her peace and quiet time taking long walks and enjoying nature. It would be wrong to say that Maria lost her battle with cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Maria stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. It means she won her wings. Maria was truly loved by her family and is survived by her daughter Angela Gurley, (husband Danny); grandchildren Daniel Gurley (wife Cortney), Khara Stowe (husband Brandon), and Kristopher Alsobrook (wife Kimberly). Great grandchildren Mikya & Cyri Gurley, Trey Reedy, Tate & Sagelee Stowe, Karleigh & Ainsley Alsobrook, Gage Jones, Tristan Payne, Brendalyn & Whitley Reichert and Hadley Sutherby. Sisters Jo Ann Meadows, Victoria Moore and Rosy Wood. Brothers Mike, Joe, John, Tony and Sug Martinez. She was preceded in death by her parents Victoriano & Edwarda Martinez, daughter Stephanie Alsobrook, brothers Pete & Lupe Martinez and sister Catalina Villarreal. A Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mabank TX on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 2:30PM.
