

Mary was born on August 11, 1919 in Elmont, Texas to parents Marshall B. Cotten and Lena Whitaker and entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2016 at the age of 96. Mary dearly loved her family. She was a people person; she never met a stranger. Mary worked for the Cooke County Tax Appraisal District in Gainesville for over 20 years. She taught Sunday school at Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville where she was a charter member. Mary sang in the choir for 40 years. She helped with the ministry at local nursing homes in Gainesville, well into her 80’s. In 2010 she moved to Enchanted Oaks to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Mary became a member of First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City where she continued her service for the Lord. She was a very loving and caring lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983; Woodrow Keller, brothers Troy Cotten, Leo Cotten, Truitt Cotten, Horace Cotten, and Gene Cotten and her sister Doris McAfee.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela Lancaster and husband Gary of Enchanted Oaks, grandson Jeff Bell and wife Kristie of Wylie, granddaughter Natalie Easley and husband Jordan of Ft. Worth, great-granddaughter Taylor Bell, great-granddaughter Charlotte Easley, great-grandson Wyatt Easley, and a host of extended family and friends.
