

A funeral service for Matthew Emmet Bacon, 54, of Kemp, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Victory Church of Scurry in Scurry, Texas, Dallas Police Department Chaplain Mike Middlebrooks officiating, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Matt an 18-year veteran with the Dallas Police Department passed away at home on August 8, 2023. He was born in Nebraska. He attended Fort Hays State University. Matt spent his early years on the rodeo circuit calf roping. It was during this time at a rodeo up in Canada that he met his one true love, Amie Stone. The couple married on November 15, 1996. Settling in Colorado, Matt worked as a prison guard, but after moving to Kemp Texas, Matt started his true calling as a Dallas Police Officer. Matt had many accommodations and was proud to service on the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He was a dedicated officer, husband, and friend. Matt will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnnie and Karen Jones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amie Bacon; mother, Candace Bacon; brother, John Bacon and wife, Pam; two nephews; dogs, Rockstar and Whiskey; his brothers in arms – Dallas Police Department; a multitude of other law enforcement officers, staff and support operations; and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be the Dallas Police Department Honor Guard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Officers of the Dallas Police Department.
A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Victory Church of Scurry, Texas.
A special thank you to the Dallas Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Dispatchers, Kaufman County Sheriff's Officers' and staff, All law enforcement of Kaufman and surrounding areas for their continuous prayers and support during this difficult time.
