Born on Aust 13, 1947, in DeKalb, Texas, Jerry was a son of the late Earnest Melvin Miller and the late Mary Jo Morris Miller.
Jerry attended school in Bowie until his family moved to Dallas. He graduated from Crozier Tech, a High School and Trade school combined, where he learned to weld and fabricate metal pieces and engine repair. He retired from Dallas County as the lead mechanic after 29 years of service, before that he was a jack of all trades, working for Bruton Chevrolet, Cables milk, Sweetheart cup company, a truck driver, security and every job imaginable on a farm.
He loved the outdoors. He and Peggy started a Camp Fire group for their kids and the kids in the rural part of Lancaster, so they could share that love of being outdoors with others. They moved their family to Gun Barrel City and after the birth of his granddaughter he became a member of the PTO at her school. He also became a member of the Girl Scout organization when she wanted to join that.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, leather working, small engine repair, helping others and anything you could do outdoors.
He is survived by his children Melinda M Reiter, and Melvin J Miller, Jr. and his Granddaughter Zoe M Reiter of Gun Barrel City. A Niece like daughter, Crystal Schwartz of Ohio. And his rescued fur babies, Puddles and Lil Bit.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place privately at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date.
