A celebration of life funeral service for Millie Lou Tubbs, 92, of Gun Barrell City, Texas will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Hayden and Pastor Jake Tubbs officiating.
Lou was born December 19, 1931, in Pontotoc, Oklahoma to Clifford Dee and Beulah May (Townsend) Kitchens. She attended Cooper School District and met the love of her life in Glen Tubbs. They were married on September 12, 1948, and blessed with 65 wonderful years together. During the 40s and 50s, Lou and Glen produced a Christian radio station and spread the Lord’s message to everyone they could reach. While living in Lubbock, Lou was a member of Trinity Church and loved to teach Sunday school every week. In the 1980s, Lou and Glen moved to Horseshoe Bend, where they opened and ran a convenience store for 15 years. Lou was a long-time member of the 1st Assembly of God Mabank where she played piano and the accordion in the church band. During her free time, Lou enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and spending every weekend at the lake to water-ski. Lou adored spending time with her family and would crochet beautiful keepsakes for them to treasure.
Lou is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Tubbs; daughter, Patsy Tubbs; parents, Clifford and Beulah Kitchens; sisters: Mary Morton and Betty Morton; brother, C.L. Kitchens.
She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Kathy Turner; son, Don Tubbs and wife, Linda; grandchildren: Jake, Jeremy, Clifford, Ray; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Billy Kitchens and wife, Wynonia; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
