Morris "Jack" Kunick, 80, of Mabank, Texas went to meet his heavenly father on February 22, 2020. Jack was born on July 4, 1939 in Iron Mountain, Michigan to parents Maurice and Bertha (Ryan) Kunick. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1957 to 1962. Jack married the love of his life, Catherine Linda Moore on February 25, 1963 and were happily married for 57 years. He played hockey for the New York Rangers, was a Master Mason and a past chapter dad for DeMolay International in Point Richmond California. He was also a past Patron of the Eastern Star in Point Richmond, California. Jack retired from J. DiChristinia as a forman in 1993, after retiring he continued to work for Malakoff ISD in the maintenance department for 10 years. He was a longtime volunteer for East Texas Medical Center and for Meals on Wheels. He and his wife were long time members of the Baptist Church, where he served many leading roles in the church including Deacon. He and Linda were current members of First Baptist Church of Eustace. Jack was a fighter who beat cancer twice, he was a very strong man with a giving heart. His compassion for others was obvious to all those he encountered during his life. He showed the importance of enjoying the moment, creating memories and taught his children to live life to the fullest and to love unconditionally. He was a mentor to many kids over the years and many looked up to him as a second father. Jack had a contagious smile, positive attitude and a loving heart. Jack as he was known to all that knew him was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He leaves behind wife Catherine Linda Kunick of Mabank, TX, son John Kunick and Wife Sheila of Edgewood, TX, son Jeremy Kunick of Mabank, TX, grandchildren; Bryce Kunick of Edgewood, TX, Brittani Murphy and husband Tim of Houston, TX, great-grandchildren; Dominick Rickman, Donovan Rickman, Damien Rickman, Derrick Murphy and Dezmond Murphy all of Houston, TX, life long friend Don Smith and the late Judy Smith of Mabank, TX and many more family members and friends.
