Nancy Lee (Hargrove) Dougherty was born in Terrell, Texas to Guy and Brenda Hargrove on October 21, 1970. She died peacefully in her sleep in her home of Enchanted Oaks, Texas on January 12, 2020. She was forty-nine years old.
Nancy was born the youngest of three. Siblings, Guy and Dena loved and nurtured her from the first day they laid eyes on her. As a child, she enjoyed cooking with her Mom, skiing with her Dad, and being with her beloved grandmother, Ola Lee Richardson. Nancy excelled in singing, dance, and writing.

After her time at Terrell High School, she took her insane courage and love for adventure to the Air Force honorably serving from 1989 to 1992. Nancy served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm assigned to a unit providing emotional support to soldiers returning home. She adored traveling and had a magical way of effortlessly fitting into whatever culture or context including Korea and Germany. Her time in the military was followed by her first marriage and the birth of her first two children Hope and Justice Dougherty.
In 1999, she returned to the states with Hope and Justice, to be close to her family. She married Thomas Evans III and gave birth to her third child, Gabriel Evans. The couple amicably divorced but remained good friends and committed co-parents.
Whenever she took a break from her favorite role as, ‘Mom’, she would paint beautiful pieces, write in her journal, karaoke or hang out with her friends on her porch. Her house was the social hub for many as Nancy was the epitome of fun, accepting, and loving.
With her numerous artistic gifts in leaving things more beautiful than she found them, she became a cosmetologist and landscaper. Her cosmetology clients viewed her as a beloved confidant and friend.
Nancy is survived by her children; Hope Dougherty, Justice Dougherty, and Gabriel Evans; parents Guy and Brenda Hargrove, brother Guy B. Hargrove and wife Kimberly, sister Dena Mojica and husband Jose; and companion Bruce Arambula. She is also survived by nieces Mattie Farrer of Saginaw, Meggie Calvin of Winfield, KS, Jeanice Mojica of Granbury, Julie Lowry of Rockwall, Chloe Hargrove of Dallas; and nephews Joe Mojica of Lubbock and Guy G. Hargrove of Forney.
