

Born on June 10, 1935, in Phalba, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Arrell Orbin Easley and the late Ruby Pauline Clardy Easley.
She graduated from Mabank High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M University, Commerce. Most of her career, she was self-employed providing bookkeeping and tax preparation services to clients. She was an avid gardener and a member in the Alvin Garden Club. She also enjoyed genealogy research and was a member of the Van Zandt Genealogical Society.
Janie is survived by her children Gary Gene Schira, Sr., Anthony Jay Schira, and Lesa Kay Allen; sisters Willa Walker and husband, Billy Walker, and Carolyn Easley Bowen; brother Kenneth Easley; grandchildren Gary Gene Schira, Jr. and spouse, Whunpen “Tan” Schira, and Anthony Lee Allen and partner, Eric Fry; and great-grandchildren Allen, Jasmine, Daisy, Rosy, William, and Benjamin Schira; along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Janie is preceded in death by husbands Ralph Rodgers and Phil Vance; sister Elizabeth Easley; brothers Charles Easley and Ralph Hudspeth; and step-father, Willie R. Hudspeth.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank.
