Pamela Kaiser Long was born July 27, 1933 in Lake Forest, Illinois and passed away March 29, 2022 at age 88. When she was six years old, Pam moved with her family to Dallas, Texas. She excelled throughout school graduating salutatorian of North Dallas High School at age sixteen. She received both her bachelors and master’s degrees from SMU in Dallas.
Pam met the love of her life, Thomas Wayne Long, on an elevator in the building where they both worked. They started their journey together in 1958 and built a beautiful life and family. They were happily married for 51 years until Tom’s death on November 4, 2009.
Pam’s passion for helping children navigate through life excelled as she taught at Dallas Independent School District for 33 years, being nominated for teacher of the year several times. At her retirement from DISD, Pam and Tom moved to Mabank, TX so they could continue to be a part of their grandchildren’s lives. She continued to teach another 17 years in Mabank Independent School District concentrating on children who were dyslexic. She was a compassionate educator who left no student behind.
In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques. Her lovely home which she thoroughly enjoyed decorating was filled with these treasures. She was always hard working, driven and never turned away from a challenge, dedicating her life to family, friends, church, and education.
Pam was a loving and caring person, known to those close to her as generous and considerate, often putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She handled every situation with dignity and grace and had a smile for everyone even in her final days.
Pamela is preceded in death by her parents, Francis Holmes and Grace Marie Kaiser; her brother, Francis Kaiser, Jr.; and her loving husband, Thomas W. Long.
She is survived by 2 sons, Steve Long of Mabank, TX and David Long of Kemp, TX; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth Long of Pflugerville, TX and Jacob Long of Dallas, TX; and a great granddaughter, Charlotte Long of Pflugerville, TX.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Mabank Nursing Home, the amazing nurses from Hospice, as well as Dr. Guttuso for their loving care shown to Pam during her illness.
A memorial service to celebrate Pam’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Eubank Funeral Home, 601 E. Walnut St., Mabank, TX 75147.
