Paul Louis Murphy, 72, passed away on Monday, August 14, in Kemp, Texas, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 7, 1946 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the oldest child and only son, of Wallace and Burle (Nutt) Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susan Murphy.
He was a member of Arkansas’ DeSoto District Council of Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Rank on February 1, 1960. He was also an Ordeal and Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow. Paul was a 1964 graduate of El Dorado High School where he was a member of the marching band. He attended Arkansas Tech University, prior to enlisting in the US Air Force.
During his Air Force days, he met and married is first wife, Ann Marie Johnson of Big Spring, Texas. They were married for 29 years before her sudden death. The majority of his work career was spent in sales and marketing for various companies. Paul was an ordained Elder of Presbyterian Church USA and also served as Clerk of Session for his church. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting with his father and later his son and camping with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and could fix or build just about anything.
He is survived by his second wife, Linda Aaron Murphy; daughter, Keri Peacock and husband Donald of Grand Prairie; son Terry Murphy and wife Mandy of The Colony; grandchildren Heather Garcia and husband Osvaldo and Nicholas Peacock and great-grand daughter, Charlotte and his sister Anna Murphy of Duncanville. He is also survived by his step-children Wilbert Aaron and wife Mary of San Antonio; Thomas Aaron and wife Deanna of Lavon, Lisa Aaron Foote and husband Jerry of Sachse, step-grandchildren William Foote and wife Ashleigh, Jerry Foote, Jr., Sarah Sorrells and husband Shawn, Jessica Foote, Virginia Foote, Kaitlyn Foote, Wilbert “Alec” Aaron, Abigail Aaron, Kristen Aaron, Bridget Aaron; step great-grandchildren; Flynn Foote, Amelia Grace Sorrells and Trigg Sorrells.
