R. W. Wier, born August27, 1923 in Mabank, Texas to Lonnie and Maime Wier, died on August 24, 2014 in Bedford, Texas. He grew up in and received his education in Mabank. He joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and served in the South Pacific during World War II and in Korea in 1950-51. Upon discharge from the Marines he joined the Dallas Fire Department and served for 26 years. He retired as a driver engineer. He and his wife were active members of the First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was also a 65 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie Wier and Mamie Warbinton, brothers Glenn and Dale Wier, and sister Lowayne Wier Gooch. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Willow Deen Wier, daughter Linda Harris and husband Tom, sister Eunice Getzendanner and husband Gene, brother Joe Wier, and numerous nieces and nephews.
