Born on October 20, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, Ray was a son of the late Arthur Ray Ashley and the late Catherine Jean Murphey Ashley.
Ray was a long-time member of Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City. He was a garage door installer for Lomax Overhead Doors for close to 30 years.
Along with his wife, Sheila, Ray is survived by his sisters Beverly Worley (Johnny), Paula Schultz (Mark), and Tricia Perry (Eric); his aunt Brenda Derrington; his uncle Harvey Murphey; his brother-in-law Frank Lowe, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park in Mabank.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Lowe, Mike Schultz, Tristian Costillo, Alan Jones, Robert Perry, and Billy Lynn Murphey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Worley, Mark Schultz, Todd Schultz, Frank Lowe, Andrew Lowe, and Dwayne Epler.
