He was born Wednesday May 26, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. He attended Trinity High School where he received a Doctor of Motors Student Citation. He was the first person in his family to graduate high school, which he attributed to the opportunity to attend auto mechanics classes beginning his junior year.
He met his best friend and the love of his life, Sherry, in October of 1972. They married the following year and had three beautiful daughters, who gave him eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and mechanics. His curiosity for mechanics started at a very young age when he took all the lights off his mothers car while his father was at work. His father spent the next couple of days putting it all back together. The first car Rick ever owned was a blue 1960 Corvair that didn’t run. He paid fifteen dollars for it and pulled it home. He worked on it with his father, getting it running in just a few days.
Rick’s two greatest joys were his love for auto mechanics and the beautiful family he built with his wife.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Clayton Brown and Leela Odell Brown and brother Doyle Ray Brown. He is survived by his brother Gary Spear, his wife Sherry Brown, daughters Christi Brown, Traci Guthrie and Kimberly Chancey, grandchildren Rebecca Tyson, Kel’lee Chancey, Sarah Caldwell, Jessica Chancey, David Chancey III, Avery Jones, Kendall Jones, Nicholas Guthrie, Cooper Guthrie, Jacob Brown and Emily Brown, his great granddaughter Elaina Thatcher and many nieces and nephews.
