Ricky “Rick” Herndon Young (69) was born on 1/11/1954 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Dorothy Geraldine Herndon Young (Jerry) and Milton McGraw Young. Rick resided at Cedar Creek Lake with his wife Becky so he could be close to his Mom “Jerry” or “Mimi” as well as Sister, Julie and Brother-in-Law, Randy. He made his transition into God’s arms on November 11, 2023 with his family by his side.
Rick met Becky in 1984 while working at the Ambassador Hotel in Dallas, Texas and were married September 6th, 1986. Rick quickly realized that he didn’t want the hotel life where he would move every few years so, he changed careers and worked for friends at the Exhibit Store for almost 20 years. Rick excelled in the exhibit business, often being top salesperson and then decided to pursue his dream of opening his own company,ShaBang Exhibits, with his partners in Dallas. Rick had a good career in the display business and met many people creating friends along the way until he retired February 29, 2020.
Rick worshiped his daughter Ashlyn who was born in 1995. Rick had such pride in his role of a father and was willing to move anywhere to provide a better school district for his daughter. Ashlyn loved music, so Rick became active in St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Plano and our home became the hangout for Ashlyn’s friends. He always was willing to provide a hug to any child, adult, cousin, friend or anyone that was having a bad day.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Becky of 37 years, daughter; Ashlyn McGraw Young, sister; Julie Squibb, brother-in-law; Randy Squibb, brother-in-law; Rick Russell, many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
