Roger was born on October 31, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Felix Phillip Prebis and Agnes (Prajzner) Prebis and entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2019 at the age of 73. He graduated from De Paul University in Chicago in 1967 with a Business degree in Logistics, was a member of ROTC and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant after graduating. While in the Army Roger was stationed in Thailand at a supply warehouse, and went to Vietnam as a cargo escort. He received a National
Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. At the time of his discharge he was a Captain. Roger married Melanie on August 18, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Texas where he worked for MCI in the Telecom industry for 18 years, after which he opened a small business, GSI Logistics, which he operated for 17 years. Roger was a member of the St. Edward Catholic church. Roger loved his family. He had a great sense of humor, talked to everyone, loved corny jokes, golf and fishing. Roger was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Agnes Prebis and his brother Phillip Eugene Prebis.
He is survived by his wife Melanie Prebis of Mabank, Texas; son Greg Prebis of Dallas, Texas; daughter Jenny Pierson and husband Geremie of Newnan, Georgia; son Andrew Prebis and wife Leslie of Ashville, North Carolina; grandson Gage Pierson, stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama in flight school, and wife Brianna, granddaughters Bayli , Chloe’, and Mia Pierson; grandson Collin Prebis; great granddaughter due in February 2020; nephew Larry Prebis and wife Liz of West Chicago, Illinois; niece Brittney Prebis; nephew Brenden Prebis; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many more friends.
Funeral Service will be Friday, October 18, 2019 6pm at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens TX. There will also be a Celebration of Life at the Pinnacle Club in Mabank at a yet undetermined date. Roger will be interred at the DFW National Cemetery.
