December 26, 1927 - September 11, 2024
Rosemary Dean Farmer was an extraordinary woman. Rosemary was born in 1927 and raised in Rushville, Illinois and passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on September 11, 2024. Rosemary’s journey in life was guided by her love of family and friends and her career as a dedicated teacher.
Rosemary’s greatest joy came from her family, whom she cherished above all else. She was a devoted wife to Giles Farmer for 65 years who preceded her in death. She was a caring sister of John Dean (Sullivan, IL. Deceased) and Shirley Kost (Browning, IL.) Rosemary and Giles had three sons Stephen Farmer (Chicago, IL.) Don Farmer, wife Fran (Mabank, Tx), David Farmer, wife Barb (Dallas, Tx.). Five Grandchildren, Ryan, wife Marin, Justin, wife Ashley, Jason, wife Eden, and Macy Farmer, Carly, husband James Proett. Six Great Granddaughters, Nora Grace, Emmerson Jane, Holland Rose, Delaney Anne, Riley Marie, and Dayton Eileen. And our family is blessed with two more great grandchildren on the way.
Rosemary’s love of teaching, which spanned 25 years, continued in retirement in her community at Cedar Creek Lake where she and Giles lived for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Pinnacle Women’s Club, Friends of the Library and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. She held various roles in the Coast Guard Auxiliary including Commander of Flotilla 514. She attended First Presbyterian Church, Mabank and Pinnacle Church. Rosemary was a graduate of Western Illinois and North Texas State Universities.
Rosemary never missed the opportunity to reach out to enrich, educate or inspire others. The moments she spent with her 6 Great Granddaughters were truly a highlight of her life and theirs. Her smile said it all each time she hugged them, shared a story, made them Trail mix or gathered items for her famous Christmas stockings which everyone looked forward to receiving.
Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her love and kindness. Memorials may be made in Rosemary’s name to:
