Ruth was born on June 4, 1920, in Benton, Louisiana, to James Oscar Parker and Alma Bert English Parker and entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2015 at the age of 94. Ruth lived in Payne Springs, Texas for many years and attended Payne Springs United Methodist Church. After her husband, John, passed away in October of 2011, she moved to Temple to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She last resided at Sodalis Elder Living, an Alzheimer’s facility in Temple, where she was lovingly cared for during the past 2 ½ years. Ruth was a loving and caring lady and will be dearly missed .
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Dawson, first husband Dwight Ferguson, son David Ferguson, six brothers; Leigh, Fred, Joe Lynn, Herbert, Bobby and John, and two sisters; Julia and Dorothy.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Ferguson Cooper and son-in-law Jim Cooper, grandchildren; Brian Cooper, Annie Cooper and Paige Almodovar (Ralph), great-grandchildren; JT and Clay Cooper, Alison Almodovar Porter (Mat) and Ben and Jon Almodovar, great-great grandchildren; Noah and Cameron Porter, one brother Don, two sisters; Helen and Edith, many nieces and nephews, and loving family and friends.
