

Born on February 19, 1953, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, Sandra was a daughter of Pablo Alvarez Lopez and the late Lilia Alvarez Garza.
Sandra was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church, where she actively participated in many parish activities. A loving and dedicated wife, she spent her years as a stay-at-home homemaker, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Sandra found great joy in caring for her nieces and nephews, as well as for neighborhood children who were in her care. She had a passion for cooking and was especially known for her delicious tamales. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth, love, and plenty to share with everyone who stopped by.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Amando, and their three daughters: Carmen Silva, Leonor Lopez, and Sandra Ortega. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Juan Huichapa, Homero Lopez, and Marcos Ortega. Sandra was a proud and loving grandmother to Brittney Day, Johnny, Lydia, and Nadia Hernandez, Armando Arteaga, Damien and Iliana Ortega, as well as a cherished great-grandmother to Elijah Day.
The family will receive friends and hold a rosary vigil on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
