Shirley June GREEN
November 26, 1932 – August 13, 2019
Shirley was born November 26, 1932 in Malakoff, Texas, to parents Cred L. Patten and Bessie Mabel (Holley) Patten. She entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2019, at the age of 86. Shirley graduated from Malakoff High School, where she was a cheerleader. She met her husband, Edwin Green, on a double date, and they were married in Malakoff, Texas, in 1952. Shirley and Edwin Thomas (Tommy to her) started their family, having four beautiful daughters; she was a very nurturing mother, always taking care of her family and anyone who needed an ear. Shirley was always on the go, from her career as a realtor to retiring and then opening a business and running it successfully for 35 years in a field and time when men were considered the breadwinners. Her spirit and drive made her the success she was, which was evident in the many awards and recognitions she received as a business owner and community leader. Shirley never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation as easily as the wind blows. Her strong will and passion for everything led her to be there for all and, at times, to be stubborn when taking a stand for things she was passionate about. She had no fear and was quick-witted, with a phrase for any occasion. Shirley loved planning parties and had a green thumb that others were always in awe of. But her true passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They made her whole world light up, especially if she was singing and dancing with them, no matter the location. Shirley was Methodist by faith and was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas. She was an amazing lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin Thomas Green; her brother, Vernon Patten, and her sisters, Margie Campbell and Sue Kilgore Hunt. She is survived by her loving daughters, Diane Moore and husband, John, of Granbury, Suzie Green Shankle of Mabank, Holly Green Pierce of Arlington and Kellie Bruce and husband, David, of Granbury; her grandchildren Charles Moore and wife, Rachel, of Houston, Jeremy Pierce of Dallas, David Moore and wife, Sarah, of Weatherford, Mark Moore and wife, Beth, of Forney, Sarah Aleman and husband, Adam, of Arlington, Arey Shankle and wife, Ashley, of Ben Wheeler, Amber Yarbrough of Mabank, Lauren Jay of Granbury and Carson Jay of Granbury; numerous beloved great-grandchildren, other loving family members and many lifelong friends.

Shirley was my mother's little sister, and I loved her dearly. We share a middle name, and she and my uncle Tommy were always very good to me. I shall miss her terribly. She was a wonderful person.
