W.O. Hare was born on April 21, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to parents George Vernon and Patsy Lorene (Harris) Hare and entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2018 at the age of 80. William graduated from Seagoville High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Iris Hughes, on June 21, 1957 at Kleberg Baptist Church. William went to work as a fireman in 1961 for the Dallas Fire Department. Rising to the rank of Captain, he was well liked and respected by his men. William worked at Station #23, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a take charge person and a man of his word. William was honest, a hard worker and believed in taking care of his family. He was a collector of antique china. In his later years, he enjoyed working in the yard. William was a member of Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City and has been an active member in church since he was a young boy. He was an amazing husband, father grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
William was preceded in death by his parents, son William Thomas Hare and great-granddaughter Chloe Madison Sumner Faires.
He is survived by his loving wife Iris Hare of Gun Barrel City, daughter Patty Robertson of Gun Barrel City, granddaughter Amanda Renea Caldwell of Bedford, granddaughter Jessica Lee Caldwell of Gun Barrel City, grandson John Krebs and wife Rachel of Mesquite, great-granddaughter Lexie Nicole Faires of Gun Barrel City, brother Jimmie Don Hare and wife Teretha of Noonday, sister Bonnie Gould and husband Calvin of Jacksonville, sister Mary Ann Gafford of Dallas, other loving family members and many more friends.
