

Alvin O. Worthington, 83, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his residence. Alvin was born January 29, 1934, in Hillsboro, WI, the son of Alvin and Zola (Malosh) Worthington. Alvin married Juanita “Nita” Niswonger on December 15, 1962, in Oregon; she preceded him in death on May 4, 2003. He married Crystal Vella and she survives. Alvin had memberships in the Masonic Lodge, Moose and NRA. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and especially working in his garden. Alvin was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Alvin is survived by sons, Larry Powless and Ed (Mary Nelson) Powless; grandchildren, Kim Lenihan, Justin (Alicia) Powless and Tracie Rinaldo; great-grandchildren, Kadison Powless, Nathan Rinaldo and Karissa Powless; brothers, Everett Worthington, Lyle (Corrine) Worthington and Carl Worthington; sister, Ester Person. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Zola; wife, Juanita; daughters, Sharon Price and Karen Powless; sisters, Leota Davis, Leva Haller, Vesta Klaff and Sheril Dixon; brothers, Bernard Worthington and Vernon Worthington.
Visitation for Alvin will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Service to celebrate Alvin’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
