Audrey A Seeley 89, Rockford passed away at 4:29 pm Saturday, June 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born July 17, 1931 in Freeport, IL. Daughter of Herbert P. and Ada M (Huls) Becker. . Attended Freeport High School, home of the Freeport Pretzels, class of 1949. Lived 65 years in Rockford where she worked and raised her family. Employed by Amerock before working in small motor assembly at Barber - Colman Aug 2, 1971 retiring May 31, 1989.Married Robert L Seeley, June 27,1974 of the City of St. Joseph, Michigan. Sold her home in 2010 to live in a retirement community where she met new friends and was involved in several activities. She held the position of Champion Wii Bowler and won many Bingo games, attended potlucks, and always looked forward to Sunday church services when available.
Always soft spoken and never in a hurry, Audrey took her days one at a time, even when doctors told her those days were limited. But her gentle nature and soft-spoken tones, she’d prove, should never be underestimated. Raising five children on her own, making a career in small motor assembly, cultivating a life well-lived on her own terms, and outliving her prognosis by years show her strength and her strong will. She traveled, even well into her eighties, to see the people who mattered most to her: her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In fact, for our whole lives, she has shown up in little ways which have added up to her constant presence: JC Penney trips on birthdays, family gatherings at her small, white house, visits to Freeport for sharing memories, trips across the country to be there for graduations, weddings, births, and just because. Pictures of these memories could be found in every nook and cranny of her apartment; these memories mattered to her.
Anyone who even casually knew Audrey knew she loved her Cubs even during their worst seasons, faithfully watching every game she could, and quietly cheering them on, eventually celebrating their long-awaited World Series win in 2016. That steady faith, always showing up for her Cubbies, being present in wins and losses is also how she galvanized our family, now spread throughout the country. We celebrate her carefully and intentionally created life and honor her quiet strength.
Audrey is survived by her children: Deborah (Wesley) Smith of Loveland CO., Diane (Randy) Lovelace, Dennis (Connie) Eccles, Nancy (Ron) Erbe, and Norman (the late Angela) Eccles of Simpsonville, SC, Also 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with two more expected this year; her sister-in-law Bette Becker (Peshtigo,WI), and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; her brothers George, Joseph, Bernard, and Albert; her sister Beatrice Earnest.
