Barbara Karen (Kittoe) Duong passed away on May 30, 2026, after bravely fighting cancer. In her last days, she was surrounded by the love, laughter, and company of her family—the way she would have wanted it. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Anna (Kraklau) Kittoe.
Known affectionately as Barbie by those closest to her, she was known for her unique personality, playful spirit, determination, strong opinions, and generous heart. She brought laughter wherever she went and never hesitated to speak her mind; she did it her way, keeping everyone on their toes. Barbie had a way of making every gathering a little livelier. Her family hopes that she will be remembered for the happiness she brought to others, rather than the sadness of her passing.
Whenever she could, Barbie loved taking vacations, especially to Las Vegas and Vietnam, where she enjoyed relaxing on the beach with a drink. She especially enjoyed seeing her family, who lived all over the United States, particularly her sisters and her aunt and uncles in Minnesota.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Hoang; her children, Stephanie (Rick) and Sean (Grant); her siblings Debbie (Dan), Chuck (Mary), Cindy (deceased: Bryce), Brenda (Geof), Frank (Kim), and Fred (Danielle); and Linh (Bonny) and Amy (Anthony), who were like daughters to her. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and grandchildren by heart (Elise, Aidan, Austin, Ashton, and AmyriCali).
A memorial will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens on June 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a short funeral.
In lieu of flowers, gifts, or monetary contributions, Barbara would probably prefer that you visit a casino, put a few dollars into a slot machine in her honor. Alternatively, donations may be made to a charity that is meaningful to you.
