Barbara Ann Klein, on September 15, 2010 was taken from this world to work in God’s garden. She was born November 1, 1943. Barb graduated from East High School and Rockford School of Business. She thoroughly enjoyed working in retail fashion at Weise’s, Marshall Fields, Yonkers, and Bergner’s. She ended her retail career as closing Manager of Bergner’s Colonial Village. She was past president of Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority. Barb enjoyed gardening, crafts, traveling, skiing, dancing and spending time at the lake cottage. She was a master gardener and worked the historic gardens at Midway Village. Barb gave many gardening presentations throughout the area. Barb was employed by Rock Valley Garden Center. She enjoyed her job immensely, especially the people. She mostly loved working in her “seven” gardens and spending time with her husband and family. Barb loved being married (46 years) to her husband and best friend Dirk Klein, she had one son Dirk II living in Kansas. She is survived by her husband, son, mother Ellen Kuhl, sisters Susan (Jasper) Miles, Vicki Kuhl and Brother William (Carol) Kuhl, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Alton Kuhl, and sisters, Karen (Clarida) and Cynthia (Aurand). Her favorite quote was “The Earth Laughs in Flowers” by Emerson. This classy lady who always took the high road was one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A sharing of memories begins at 4:00 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2010, prior to memorial services at 5:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL.
