Born June 3, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Benford and Harriett (Niedzwicki) Hamlin.
He was a veteran of the Marines serving in WWII.
Ben married Betty Cline and together shared 69 years while raising their five children.
Ben was employed as a vice-president and sales manager at Illinois Wholesale Liquors,
he retired in 1988. He served as president of Machesney Incorporation Committee
in the founding of Machesney Park and first treasurer of the village in 1981.
He was so proud to see how the village has grown today.
Ben was a long time member of St. Bridgets Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Survivors: wife, Betty; children, Kevin (Carolyn) Hamlin, Brian
(MaryAnn) Hamlin, Barbara Abney, Mary (Michael) Delavy,
Mark (Jennifer) Hamlin; 11 grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; sister, Benitta (Eugene) Dziekan. Predeceased by
parents; sister, Sandy Cline.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at St.
Bridgets Church 600 Clifford St. Loves Park, Il. Visitation from
9:00 a.m. until time of service. Luncheon immediately following
mass. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
