Bernice R. Johnson, 89, passed away August 12,2011 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home,born November 5, 1921 to Olga & Andrew Ramsey and educated at Rockford Central High School, graduated 1940; Married Clarence ”Bud” Johnson December 12, 1942; Pre-deceased by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 1 sister; Survived by 4 children, Jerri(Louie) DalCollo of Rockford, Gary(Dee) Johnson of Bartlett, Terry Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, Steve(Amy Kellogg) Johnson of Rockford; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Van Natta of Rockford, Tony(Stephanie)Meinking of Lodi, T.J.(Kristen) Johnson of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Whitney(Kevin) Gartland of Maple Grove, MN, Shannon Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Alexa Johnson of Loves Park; 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and nephews;

Bernice was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church; Past member of the Rockford Association of Insurance Women, Robt Carlson American Legion Auxillary, and the Red Hats. The family would like to thank the staff at Fair Oaks for making Bernice’s last days so comfortable & peaceful, as well as all her friends at Crystal Lake in Wisconsin especially the Laker Boys. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 800-272-3900. Pastor Janet Wold of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will lead a memorial service Friday September 9, 2011 at 2:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois.
