

Betty M. Oberheim, 97, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Betty was born on November 21, 1928, in Savanna, Illinois, to Marvin and Elverda McCue. On October 12, 1946, Betty married Duane Oberheim.
Betty enjoyed gardening vegetables and spending time outside. She also loved to crochet and sew. Most importantly, Betty was incredible and creative in the kitchen. Her twice-baked potatoes were always perfect. In her younger days, she was a member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed dancing – especially to Jerry Lee Lewis. She was feisty, bold, and you always knew where you stood with her.
Betty is survived by her sons, John (Marcia) Oberheim, and David (Carey) Oberheim; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Molly) Oberheim, Michael (Julie) Oberheim, Andrea Oberheim, Denise Reuber, and Dawn Swanson; great-grandchildren, Andrew Oberheim, Mason Oberheim, Sophie Oberheim, Mickenzie Mills, and Dylan Swanson; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; daughter, Diana Halley; parents, Marvin and Elverda; 7 siblings.
Per Betty’s wishes, services will be conducted privately, and she will be laid to rest beside her husband Duane, and daughter Diana. A Celebration of Life for Betty and Diana, will be held this Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Verdi Club, 782 North Madison St, Rockford, IL 61107.
