

Billie A. Crabb, 83 of Machesney Park, passed away December 12, 2014. Born April 7, 1931 in Corning, AR; he was the son of Martin H. and Phennie A. (Martin) Crabb. He married Eva Brown on April 7, 1954 in Pocahontas, AR.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Bill retired from Amerock after more than 40 years of employment. During his life in the Army, he was stationed at Camp Desert Rock as a Nuclear Soldier during the testing of the Atomic Bomb. He served in the trenches for four explosions and at the camp for eleven explosions.
Bill enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, working on cars, attending his granddaughters’ sports events, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eva Crabb; daughters, Naomi (Jerry) Gibson and Cherri (Keith) Wade; granddaughters, Jerrica (Bret) Hagerman and Monica Gibson; great-grandchildren, Eva Mae and JD Hagerman; brother, Edsel (Mary) Crabb; sister, Mary Lou (Wayne) Cox; nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Duell, Gordie, and Tommie; and four young siblings during childhood.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 17th, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Visitation 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 16th at the funeral home. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Harlem High School Veterans Documentary Project and The Helping Hands Pantry of Machesney Park.
