OBITUARY

Billy H Tanker

May 22, 1946March 10, 2018

Billy Tanker, 71, was welcomed into heaven after enduring a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. Both at 16, he married his sweetheart, Reba Bryant and together fashioned their life around each other for 49 years, including cross country trips with their motorcycle, relocating after retiring to Alabama and embracing the beauty of nature and all it had to offer, especially the deer and the colonies of humming birds that flocked their feeders. Reba died in 2012. Billy was passionate about everything he enjoyed; fishing, riding his tractor especially when grandchildren were in tow, his hearty garden, bicycling, and a good debate. Billy worked for Rockford Clutch for over 30 years and was considered a valued employee. After retiring he relocated to Alabama and took on a maintenance position with the Alabama School District. The staff loved Billy. More than anything Billy loved his mom. Billy was born May 22, 1946, in Fairhaven, MI to Eugene and Nellie (Peek) Tanker.

Survivors include mother, Nellie; children, Billy (Ligia), Steve (Kari) Tanker; grandchildren, Ty, Noah, Allen, Rebecca, William, Nellie; brother, Ricky (Peggy) Tanker; sister-in-law, Timma (Jody) Horsley. Predeceased by father; wife; grandson, Arthur Tanker.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Karen and all the staff at Lincolnshire Place for the loving care to Billy.

Dear Rick & family,

We are very sorry for the loss of your brother Billy. I didn't know Billy, but if he was anything like you, Rick, he must have been a wonderful man. I know he will be missed. Now he is with the Lord God, his family and friends in Heaven. May God bless all of you.

With Sympathy,
Dick & Julie Harden

We are going to miss Billy, he challenged us, he danced, but most of all he was everyone's friends. I loved when he would point at any of the staff and with a big smile on his face say "She's a good one". We'd love to hear Steve's stories how he would take his dad for a ride and hear how he needed to get out of Lincolnshire Place but the minute he would return he had a smile and happy to see all of his "his friends". On behalf of my entire staff I would like to thank you for trusting us and allowing us to not just serve Billy but his family, it was truly an honor. When Billy passed we grieved because we lost a great man but we loose seeing his family who we considered our friends also. We will miss everyone.
Wishing you all peace and comfort and this difficult time.
