Billy York

Billy York, 81, of Machesney Park, died on November 14, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family. Born December 1, 1928 in Corning, AK the son of Hattie and Roy York. Married Roxie Gambrell in 1949. He worked 32 years and retired from Brearley Co (Counselor). Later he worked as a seasonal employee for the Harlem Township. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, and history but loved his family most. Attended Gateway (Parkside) Church of the Nazarene. Survived by his son, Richard (Teresa) York of Mt Vernon, OH; daughter, Nancy (Ken) Clankie of Machesney Park; granddaughter, Megan York; sisters, Marcy York and Shirley Sharp of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and household pet, Sadie. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Roxie York; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Many thanks to Swedish American Health System, Dr. Joe Ross, East Bank Rehab and Northern Illinois Hospice for taking such good care of dad. Funeral services at 2 pm on Friday, November 19, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. with Pastor Randy Kiger officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
