Bonnie J. Erickson

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, Bonnie J. Erickson, 75, of Machesney Park, IL heard and accepted the final call of the Lord. As she loved her family and friends above all else, many of those who cherished her most were beside her during her peaceful passing. Daughter of John and Bertha McMurray, sister of Bobbie Staton, Bonnie was born on August 13th, 1939 in Phil Campbell, AL. She later moved to Rockford, IL and became the wife of John Erickson on December 14th, 1957. Bonnie is survived by John and their four children: Alan (Robyn) Erickson, Lenora Greenwaldt, Rachel (Mike) Ralph and Monica (Russ) Owen, eight grandchildren: Stacy (Pete) Sotos, Justin (Jessika) Savage, Mandy Erickson, Chris Greenwaldt, Andrew Erickson, Devin Savage, Shawn Greenwaldt and Kyle Owen; three great-grandchildren: Riley Morehead, Ellie Morehead and Johannah Sotos.

A strong, tireless leader at work and a selfless, nurturing Wife, Mother, Grandmother and best friend at home, Bonnie helped us all to establish high standards to aspire to. Recently, Heartland Community Church became her spiritual home and she attended with members of her family.

Bonnie will be loved always and remain forever in our memories.

A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be 7:00 p.m. Monday May 11, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Visitation for Bonnie will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
